Kirio is a powerful new tool that enhances home comfort by automating and optimizing water, gas, and electricity usage. The Seattle-based company leads the pack in affordable, elegant home energy management but needed Rational’s help to make that value more perceivable to potential customers.

The magic of Kirio is in the tailored environment it creates through cumulative learning about a resident’s habits, schedules, and preferences over time. Seattle’s ever-expanding commercial and housing markets have an untapped need for economizing energy use based on personal preferences. Kirio needed a rebranding effort that would close this gap and put the company on the radars of prospective developers and homebuyers.


Kirio wanted to encapsulate the spirit of affordable luxury, communicating both empathy and elegance. In short, Kirio wanted to portray a modern sense of home. Our challenge was to create a logo and website architecture that embodied the ease and comfort of the product, inspiring demand even before customers saw it.

Inspired by the spirit of Japanese Zen, Rational created a logo and site design that evoke themes of simplicity, beauty, and eternal adaptability. This matches the heart and value of the company: technology thoughtfully integrated for a harmonious home environment.




Building brand appeal

Competitive analysis and stakeholder interviews informed the strategy for a rebranded company logo and site architecture that would inspire demand before customers saw the product.


Channeling a spirit of Zen

Inspired by Japanese Zen, the rebranding embodied the ease and comfort of the product and aligned with the heart and value of the company: technology thoughtfully integrated for a harmonious home environment.


Rational delivered a new website experience that not only conveyed the essence of Kirio and closed the gap between product and market, but was also scalable for future product brand developments. Ultimately, our Zen concept translated into an interactive online experience that earned a Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award in the rebrand/redesign category.
